When the System arrived, it divided humanity into Heroes, Civilians, and Bosses. In the coastal city of Hallsvik, former lifeguard and swim coach Ilsa Brandt was assigned to the least convenient category: mid-tier dungeon boss. Her municipal baths have become the Drowned Baths, a flooded maze of locker rooms, sauna corridors, shifting floors, and a competition pool whose water answers to her will. Scheduled hero parties arrive with rosters and records, prepared to kill her and claim their rewards. Ilsa's reward comes afterward—but only if she loses well. Every defeat receives a System grade based on challenge, clarity, catharsis, and novelty. A convincing loss earns experience, new abilities, and better arena equipment. A careless defeat earns little. Victory earns nothing and may trigger an audit. Worse, a party wipe can permanently kill its challengers and put Ilsa's own classification at risk. So Ilsa prepares each encounter like a championship meet, studying weaknesses, refining set pieces, and teaching heroes how to beat her. Between fights, she repairs the Baths, exchanges gossip with other bosses, and tries to preserve some ordinary life in a city learning to live with dungeons. Her next challengers include five first-timers—and Emre Kaya, a stubborn hero who keeps coming back.
