Bellweather is a small town of ~3,000 people that appears on no map. It has a school, a church, a police station, a grocery store — utterly normal, except for one rule: when someone leaves Bellweather, the town slowly forgets they existed. First their face vanishes from photographs, then their name from documents, finally from their own family's memory. Their house remains, furnished and untouched. The story opens when mail carrier Tommy Reyes (27) receives a letter addressed to Ethan Vale — dead eleven years, once his best friend. Ethan's house stands intact, yet no one remembers him, not even his mother. More letters follow, each addressed to someone the town has forgotten. Then a letter arrives addressed to Tommy himself: "You are next." No one knows who sends the letters, why some people remember, or what happens to the forgotten.
