The first midnight journey

Yanqiao awakens aboard the silent midnight train and discovers that his living body remains in a hospital room, where Shuyin is being given a form concerning his life support. Before the train leaves her window, he uses the familiar dented thermos to create a small, physically plausible sign; Shuyin notices, sets the form aside, and promises through the glass that she is there. The sign is meaningful but still deniable, and the train’s countdown has begun.
