Ignoring warnings from her superiors, she begins investigating the official disaster records and discovers that several emergency calls from Blackwater were deliberately erased. With the help of a disgraced investigative journalist, Mara uncovers evidence that the hurricane was used to conceal a classified behavioral experiment conducted on the island. The surviving residents may not be trapped there—they may be hiding from something that was created beneath the research facility. As new broadcasts begin arriving every night, each one predicts a death before it happens. Mara must return to Blackwater to find her brother and expose the truth, while confronting a terrifying possibility: The voice on the radio may not be Daniel anymore.
