When the room changes the scene and labels the missing answer, Monica rejects its classifications and leaves without completing the interval; Zero-One records her departure without calling it refusal. Outside, an unclaimed chair shifts on its own, echoing Lin’s concealed fragment without establishing a connection or occupant.

The Space Between Two Sounds

That same evening

Zero-One finds Monica’s chair moved without a trace and records its locations and the heard movement without assigning a source. A brief kettle-like whistle and a separate chair scrape emerge near Lin’s workroom; Lin refuses both disclosure and erasure, and Zero-One deliberately keeps the sounds unjoined rather than turning resemblance into an answer.
