The Snow Keeps Everything
The day Ava returned and the following morning
Ava returned to Frosthaven for Helen’s funeral and encountered Sheriff Lucas Crane, whose uneasy familiarity suggested old secrets. In the library basement, Dot Vance revealed Helen’s hidden archive on Belinda Bell’s disappearance; Ava found a note dated two days before Helen’s death instructing her to look beneath the abandoned barn floor, just as an unknown visitor entered the library above.

The Footprints Upstairs
That same night
Ava and Dot discover Nick Cordero inside the library, removing a page from Helen’s investigation notebook. The page is missing, but Helen’s map links the Harlow barn to a place or person named Marlow; a strand of red wool at the library door suggests a connection to Belinda’s lost glove. Ava heads for the barn after seeing a vehicle leave town in that direction.

What the Floor Remembered
That same afternoon
Ava reaches Harlow barn and finds Nick excavating Helen’s hidden cache beneath the floor. Inside are Belinda’s red glove, her lost phone, and a Polaroid showing Nick, Belinda, Sheriff Crane, Pastor Greer, and an unidentified adult at the barn on the night of the disappearance. Nick admits Belinda was injured and alive when he last saw her, and that his father and Crane pressured him to lie; then three people approach the barn.
- Chapter4
The People Who Came Back
That same night
Ava, Nick, Sheriff Crane, Pastor Greer, and Martha Bell confront one another at Harlow barn. Martha recognizes Belinda’s glove, confirms she was present the night Belinda disappeared, and reveals that Belinda was alive when she was carried away; she also possesses the cloth cut from the Polaroid. Before she can explain where Belinda was taken, the supposedly dead phone begins to ring.

The Number That Stayed
Several minutes later, that same night
Belinda’s recovered phone receives a call labeled MARLOW from a woman who warns Ava that Helen knew when to stop and directs her toward the Marlow house. Martha admits Belinda was taken there alive and that she helped the people who carried her away; then the phone displays a photograph of Belinda alive in 2009 with a demand that Ava come alone and ask what Martha did with the key.
- Chapter6
The Key in the Snow
That afternoon
Ava goes alone to the Marlow house and finds Martha waiting with the key to the boiler room where Belinda was held. Martha admits Belinda was conscious and terrified, and says the unidentified adult from the Polaroid returned while Belinda was there. When Ava unlocks the room, the dead phone rings from upstairs and a woman breathes behind the door.
- Chapter7
The Woman in M-17
That same night
Ava enters the Marlow boiler room and meets June Marlow, the unidentified adult from the 2009 photograph and a former plant nurse. June claims Belinda survived the room and escaped to a friend, then gives Ava a letter warning her not to trust Martha or Lucas and hinting that someone knows Ava’s true father; an unseen person begins descending from upstairs.
- Chapter8
The Name Beneath the Name
Several minutes later
An unseen visitor is revealed as Martha Bell, followed by Lucas Crane, both intent on stopping June’s evidence from leaving the boiler room. June gives Ava a cassette of Belinda’s voice and reveals that Belinda’s journey after leaving the Marlow house did not end with Elise; Helen’s note suggests the man who took her was connected to Ava’s biological father. Ava’s dead phone then rings under the caller name HELEN.
- Chapter9
The Voice in the Wire
That same night
Ava answers the call using Helen’s identity and hears a recording directing her to Gate Three and the plant’s blue office, while hinting that Ray Cordero transported someone on November 19, 2009. A photograph sent through Helen’s account shows Belinda alive that day beside a mutilated-faced man and a hospital bracelet; Ava, June, and Nick escape through the plant passage as Martha warns that Helen lied about Ava’s father—but not about his identity.
- Chapter10
The Blue Office
That same afternoon
Ava, June, and Nick reach the plant’s blue office and recover a cassette, payroll ledger, hospital slip, and photograph hidden there since 2009. Belinda’s recording identifies Lucas as the man involved in her transfer and mentions Helen’s baby, while June confirms Martha told the truth about Ava’s biological father; an unknown person escapes in Ray’s truck and Helen’s voice returns on a disconnected telephone.
