Mara begins cataloguing four troubling donations at the Bellwether County Museum: worn dance shoes, undeveloped film, an unidentified brass key, and a bloodstained child’s coat. The objects quickly connect to July 1989 and to Mara’s estranged sister Elena, whose handwriting appears on a warning attached to the key.
