One night

Sebastian, the Night King’s lighthouse keeper, witnessed his ancient flame turn white and heard it command him to open the door. He met Lucian, a gray-walker who warned that the last lighthouse had begun calling, while Vera at the Day King’s court heard the death-song of someone at a lighthouse; when her song ended, the palace lamps died and a presence knocked from within Sebastian’s lens.

The Keeper Beneath the Flame

That same night

Sebastian and Lucian witnessed a vision of Sebastian’s dead grandfather and a hidden staircase beneath Vesper’s End, while Vera’s voice crossed the distance through the white flame. Lucian revealed that he needed Sebastian’s memory of choosing the lighthouse’s flame, and the opened lens showed a double of Sebastian waiting below with a blackened lantern.
